Phil owns and works( Part Time) in his Men’s salon which is called Jarmans in west Sussex which has grown from strength to strength since it opening day 6 years ago, and has helped many barbers
 
into the men’s hairdressing along the way through his salon, And over the last two decades of evening classes and seminars .
 
Phil strongly believes in the fact that the men’s industry as a whole is in a terrible state at present and there is not enough barbers teaching barbering courses .
 
With the course work you will take part in every candidate will receive a Jarmans Academy certificate . Not an NVQ.
 
There are many so called barbering courses being taught around the country right now by hairdressers who can’t actually barber themselves! YIKES ...
 
He Says "It is like going to college to learn to build a brick wall and being taught by a plumber, I’m not a fan of NVQs and they are commonly known as Not Very Qualified.
 
I have had students come to me with lots of them in barbering but most have been taught by hairdressers and results are not the best no disrespect
 
to the hairdressing industry at all IN FACT the Opposite as with most barbering techniques and styles out there for men right now it is most beneficial if you come from a hairdressing
 
background, but the fundamental barbering techniques are essential to be the complete all round stylist!
